Fujitsu Lifebook X2 concept

Laptops are handy because they fold in half. But why stop in half? They’d be handier if you could fold them a few extra times, as with the Fujitsu Lifebook X2 concept. Really, this concept isn’t as crazily conceptual as it might seem at first glance. The only part of it that isn’t obviously buildable (with enough money, piano black finish, and ice blue LEDs) is the screen, which folds in half with barely a seam. But as long as you’re not trying to crease the screen, that’s old news: remember those amazing bendable, rollable AMOLED screens from CES a few months ago?

Having a laptop that you can fold into quarters as well as halves is especially useful since it gives you the option of having a fully workable full-size or half-size computer, depending on what your needs are, or with an additional fold you’ve got a smartphone. Yes, it’s enormously fat for a smartphone, but until we get single sheets of paper that can transform into fully functional touchscreen computers, this is not a concept that I would complain about seeing in production at some point.
